Add a TXT record at Any other DNS host
Where: The DNS or zone editor at the company whose name servers your domain uses
Steps
- Find the name servers for your domain (our free DMARC checker shows them if unsure) and open that company’s DNS editor.
- Add a record of type TXT.
- Name or host: _dmarc (some hosts want _dmarc.yourdomain.com). For SPF use @ or the domain itself.
- Value: paste the record exactly.
- Save, wait a few minutes, then check it with the DMARC checker.
Watch for
- Do not add a second record where one exists: a domain may have only one DMARC record and only one SPF record.
- Do not add quotes unless your host asks for them.
Screens change from time to time; if yours differs, Any other DNS host’s own help is the authority. When the record is in, check it with the DMARC checker; DNS changes can take a few minutes to appear.
