Add a TXT record at Amazon Route 53

Where: AWS console → Route 53 → Hosted zones → your domain

Steps

  1. Click Create record.
  2. Record name: _dmarc (leave the domain part as shown).
  3. Record type: TXT.
  4. Value: the record in double quotes, for example "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:…".
  5. Create records.

Watch for

  • Route 53 wants the value inside double quotes. A value over 255 characters must be split into several quoted pieces on one line.
  • The same account must hold the public hosted zone that the domain’s name servers point to.

Screens change from time to time; if yours differs, Amazon Route 53’s own help is the authority. Amazon Route 53 documentation. When the record is in, check it with the DMARC checker; DNS changes can take a few minutes to appear.
